With the renewed interest in the game, I'm wondering about one question:

Is the fact that it is web-based important to many people or not?

Because I've been successful in putting my other game Black Forest on Steam, and I'm thinking... basically, a lot of things in M&F would be easier if it weren't web-based. I tried to make a 3D map view and it wasn't very good, but maybe I just aimed too high? What if we keep the 2D interface, and just put it into a client? Would that be interesting?

I can't send mails to hotmail addresses and I can't figure out why.

Very helpful, yes? And no, the blocklist bullshit excuse isn't true and if I contact my provider they send me to hotmail. If anyone knows of a solution other than completely ban all hotmail accounts from the game, let me know.

So I had a few minutes of spare time and, as always, a new project popped into my head.

Actually, it's an old idea, I just now think I have the technology to do it. It would not be 100% Might & Fealty, but it could be linked to it.

My working title is "Battle Simulator". The core idea is that you put down an army on a battlefield together with simple march orders (i.e. where to go, what to attack), your enemy does the same, and then the battle is played out according to those orders, non-interactive. The player input is all in the setup phase. During the battle, you just watch. Everything is in "do you have a good strategy" and "how good can you guess what your opponent will do?"

The tie-in is that I would base the combat roughly on the M&F system. The ability to combine weapons and armour freely instead of having pre-set unit types. The morale/routing code, etc. It would be reasonably close to M&F battles.

But it would be in 3D in a standalone application. I'll use this topic to write down some of my design ideas.

General Discussion / Forum merging / new structure

At this time am running two complete forums (BM and MaF) and they both have sections about other topics as well.

I very much want to merge them into one. Each game would still have its own seperate section, it can even have its own look, but administration of one forum would be much easier than administration of two.

There would be some issues with user accounts and such. I haven't figured out how exactly to do it and if someone wants to dig into SMF docs and plugins that could help, it would be much appreciated. But ultimately, I cannot sustain several forums.

I notice from error messages that I get that some people seem to have problems with PayPal payments, while for others it works just fine.

If you can't get PayPal to work, but want to buy credits, send an e-mail to [email protected] and we will manage a manual PayPal transfer.

Some of you know that I work with Unity 3D sometimes, for example for the Map Viewer that I started building for Might & Fealty. As well as other games I do.

I'm currently creating a course for total beginners to teach basics of Unity 3D. I would like to have some 2nd and 3rd opinions. Is anyone interested in taking this course (I will give you a voucher so it's for free) and give me honest feedback on it?

I'm trying to get the 3D client for one of my other games working on various hardware and operating systems and need some people to test it, especially on low-end hardware. If you can spend a few minutes to help me out, here is what to do:

  • go to and download the client for your OS (Mac, Windows, Linux)
  • start it, create an account and join an open game
  • wait for a day or two until it fills up and starts, you will get an e-mail notification
  • enter the game and play with the various performance toggles inside
  • go to this forum:,52.0.html and post what you noticed - how is your FPS under various things enabled or disabled, how does it change? Don't forget to mention your hardware, especially graphics card, and operating system.

I don't see gossip being used the way I envisioned it. So I am thinking of removing it, and in its stead have a button leading to a complaint page.

There you can complain about a character or player, with a drop-down select box of reasons, such as:
  • silly name
  • toxic behaviour
  • abusive messages
  • cheating / exploit use
and a short text field for details.

Complaints would be reviewed by me, personally, and can be accepted, rejected or marked as abusive (e.g. if someone spams complaints because he's ticked off). You can see how many complaints against you are in which state and how many of the ones you made. That is all. As they are handled on a player level, other people can't see them because it would reveal who plays which character.
However, once I have the data, I can track it and handle abusive and toxic players.

What would happen if marching armies had to be COMPLETELY supplied, i.e. they had NO effect on the region they are in and would take NO food from there?

a) they continue to take food from their home (where they were originally recruited)
b) they continue to take food from their last stationed estate
c) they need to be supplied by entourage (camp followers)

What would be the consequences, disadvantages and advantages of each? Brainstorm.
