Yes, my new game Schwarzwald (german for "Black Forest") is in beta now.

The official website is here: http://schwarzwald.lemuria.org/

There are details, trailers, client download (Mac, Windows, Linux).

I would love to give it a shot, but nearly all my game time is snatched in lulls at work, and there is simply no way a client based game is going to run behind all these corporate firewalls and shit.

Actually, it would because it communicates over HTTP, just like your web browser. As long as it's just firewalls, and not host-based application networking policies, it should work.

Seems legit, De-Legro.  I just tried it at my work and we're choked full of government-based firewalls and network policy.  Since net-ops and security haven't showed up to give me a talk or locked my account, I'd say this is pretty safe.

One question Tom-- this game, does it have a chat function?  If so, is that chat function IRCP?  We haven't started playing yet but if this uses any kind of IRC communication, my security team will lock my machine down faster than I can say "oh fuck."

I will give it a shot and see if it bypasses websense.

Well first of course I should be responsible and say you shouldn't play games at work. But you're all adults and can decide for yourself, just don't say I made you do it. :-)

No, the chat uses the same HTTP as the rest of the game. It's not a real-time chat.
