Dunno, from the numbers you seem to be bringing lots of heavies and fighting non-armored archers and medium infantry mostly. I'd personally put a higher bet on you.

I would be very surprised if i win this battle, purely because of the fortifications. Currently i expect to lose around 40-50% of the troops i brought lol.
I cant see exactly what caliber of troops Lowlands has there, but i only see about 70 light troops, am expecting the other 800 to be mediums, with a smattering of heavy.
my weakness in archers is still apparent too. I stupidly ignored them for quite some time but am boosting a load of settlements up to longbows over the last weeks.

eventually i aim for about a 50% infantry, 30% archers, 20% cavalry mix, But horses are bloody expensive in terms of food to train.

As expected the battle was a slaughter, 3 family members killed, 4 captured, around 70% losses lol.
We won't be fighting in that Fortress again!

actually it seems to be more like 90% losses.

Warning to everyone.... never assault an estate with Stone Walls + Castle + Towers unless you have around 3-4x the enemy force lol.

enough to say that out of around 1100 troops (probably 800 were heavies) i have about 120 left.
The enemy only lost 68, only had 81 wounded, could this be the most 1 sided battle in the history of M&F..... maybe.

seems the little border skirmish between Rathgar and Lowlands is getting more interesting.
I was a bit stupid, i shouldn't be assaulting that fortress of Dubh Dun lol, didn't realise it has Stone Walls, Castle and Towers... oops. Just looked at the troops and thought ok, clearly they are outmatched! :p

I expect to lose this first battle lol.

Can you copy-paste that battle report here? You can just copy it with right-click, i believe it will be readable here.

Crikey, that's rough.

Thank, yup it looks real ugly  :-\

There is huge difference in kills from turn 1, and afterwards it turns into real slaughter.

of course, you could have just waited for a week outside the city until all buildings collapse because of starvation :( ...

That is awful. The defending archers were way more effective than I would have expected. Of total shots fired, 36% were kills, 19% were wounds, and 6% miss.

Stone walls alone, 3 to 4 ratio to win without terrible losses. Lack of archers on your side was a boon. They are almost useless against walls as your own hit to kill ratio shows

This battle is about what I would expect based on Hawk experience, minus the abundance of character deaths and captures in a single early round.

but in many ways that is the beauty of War, you always learn something new every time you fight.
