If you use the #mightandfealty IRC channel . . .
« on: January 16, 2015, 12:48:06 PM »
It seems someone has gone and taken it over after the ownership of it slipped away and then someone (possibly the same person) set it to invite only, for who knows what reason.

De-Legro and I have setup a new channel at #M&F that won't suffer the same fate (because my client auto-auths on login, and thus refreshes the channel's expiry everytime I visit it). Same server, just a different room.

If you have no clue what I'm talking about. Might and Fealty has a chat channel on the QuakeNet IRC servers. If you'd like to join us, you can use this link: http://chat.maffans.org Just pick a nickname and click join.

(Yes, I've updated that link to direct anyone who uses it to the new channel.)

To alleviate any confusion: If you see someone by the name of "Kagurati" on there, that's me.

Ive been meaning to say in the forums that there is an IRC channel available, just to get some more talk in there, right now it seems that only you and De-Legro go there, and sometimes me.
I think this should be stickied.
But it should probably be created in Helpline or something, as thats probably the place most people will go first as they probably come to the forums to ask a question, and then it could be stickied there for if they have a smaller question to ask which wont need much discussion really. Maybe even ingame the help page or whatever it is.

This is probably a very personal opinion, but I don't think we should be actively encouraging people to go to an IRC channel to get help on playing the game. This should take place inside the game to encourage interaction, or at least in the help section of the Forum where more people will see the answers.

Ya it is not really about getting help on IRC but then again the community site is a big place... lots of information and a eh so so search function.  That is why we end up with repeated questions all the time.

The best source of information is always the players.

I have used it to talk ooc stuff with a couple people, planning for stuff, or to get stuff going in game. Its easier for instant communication if you can get both people on.

There were only two OP's in the channel .De-Legro and myself, I did not make it invite only so that leave only my lovely Lego.

He must have killed the channel to make the new MF channel.

No actually I op'd everyone when I left, including the bot. I would think that even set up as invite only you would still have access and could sort out the issue.

Aaaaaghrhrhhhh the IRC keeps dying on me. Or the connection. Or both.   :-\

Also, I found myself sitting in the IRC a lot lately. It's great for casual banter and learning the situation on the figurative other side of the globe. Makes for some interesting stories. It's also great to quickly ask for help. Perhaps this should/could be recommended for new players to drop by on for help?

Does the IRC work and do people use it still? I'd be interested as I'm a King now.

It works the channel name is #M&F, not everyone but there are some people online usually.
