How to write a helpful bug report
« on: February 14, 2014, 09:09:10 AM »
If you report something that doesn't work as expected, some simple tips can make it a lot easier to find and fix the issue:
  • What exactly did you do?
Try to be specific. Include the relevant details - the character as well as other involved entities (settlement, for example)
Also include the server time (at the bottom of every page), because that makes it possible to check if there's anything in the logfiles that could help.
  • What did you expect to happen?
  • What happened instead?
If there was an error message, please copy & paste it, the exact words can make a difference.
Here's an example of a bug report that helps nobody:

Quote
"I tried to build something and it didn't work."

Here's an example of an excellent bug report:

Quote
"My character John (ID #123) tried to construct a Mill in his estate Somevillage (ID #456). It was 12:04 server time today. After entering the workforce and clicking the submit button, this error message showed up and the construction didn't start: "You can't build this because it's monday". "
