Creating Dead Characters
« on: February 14, 2014, 02:26:41 AM »
When creating a character that will start out dead, if you don't fill in the background info during character creation you cannot do so at a later date. The creation process however tells you that you can skip this and come back to it later.

True. Fixed to show that sentence only on living characters in the next update.

Yup, I only realized this after creating 4 characters. :P

How will we be able to edit the character's death description who die ingame?

Good question, an event when you log into that character straight after death perhaps.

Sorry, I don't plan to add that functionality. How many characters are affected, in total? If it's a low number, I might fix it manually.

Which functionality? Being able to edit background data of dead character? Or being able to fill in the way they died when they die in game?

I've only got the 1 dead character, and it is reasonably un-important to fill in the background for her.

Errr... I'm tired and stupid. Of course you need to add in how they died AFTER they died. *facepalm*

Another thing weird about dead characters:

1. I can't seem to access the background I wrote in one of them anywhere (even for reading). After I went into "View History", when I click their name, there's no popup window, and trying to open in a new tab says they don't affect the world of the living anymore (and nothing else).
2. When I click the name of the children from their parent's history lines, they don't popup either, and I get the same message about being dead if I try to open in a new window... Also, the options I get on the second line of the menu are only "Character Placement", plus it says I'm actually playing this character.
3. If I actually Play one of his sons, and then click on his name, I can see his screen, with his Description (but not his Death, which should appear here somewhere). It also tells me he is a landless knight (of course, he's dead!), has no estates, no soldiers and no entourage. This info could pretty much be removed from dead characters profiles. Plus Character History is greyed out and unclickable.

It's weird that as a player I can't access the character's info, but as another character I can. How will I retrieve secrets when they die? :) Or will I have to backup the secrets in my other characters? :P

This isn't urgent, of course, but it's pretty weird.
